Beaches

Rehoboth Beach – The largest of our area beach towns with amazing restaurants entertainment. It boasts a mile long boardwalk and a family friendly beach. Parking is free in the off season with metered or zone parking permits in the Summer. Pets are permitted on boardwalk and beach October 1 – April 30.

Dewey Beach – A long narrow beach town South of Rehoboth Beach. In the Summer it is known for the night clubs and party atmosphere. In the off season things die down considerably. Parking is free in the off season with metered or zone parking permits in the Summer. Dogs are permitted on the beach anytime September 16-May 14. Then beginning May 15-September 15 dogs are allowed before 9:30 and after 6:00 p.m. A dog permit (license) must be obtained from town hall on Rodney St.

Lewes Public Beach – Lewes is our historic town that reminds us of a New England harbor town. The public beach is at the end of the cape across the canal. The town and beach parking lot have metered parking in season. Parking is free at night and during the off season. Dogs are allowed on the beach before 8:00 a.m. and after 6:30 p.m. May 1 – September 30. During the off season dogs are permitted anytime.

Cape Henlopen State Park – Lewes – Our historic State Park boasting fishing, trails and pristine beaches. There is a fee to enter with your vehicle. Pets are allowed in designated areas (away from the lifeguarded sections). We suggest you ask the guard to point you in the direction of the pet friendly areas.

Gordon’s Pond – This is just north of downtown Rehoboth Beach and part of Cape Henlopen State Park. There is a fee to enter with your vehicle. There are no bathhouses or concessions. Pets are allowed in designated areas (away from the lifeguarded sections). We suggest you ask the guard to point you in the direction of the pet friendly areas.

Delaware Seashore State Park – Located South of Dewey Beach and over the Indian River bridge. There is a fee to enter with your vehicle. The park is home to the Big Chill Beach Club restaurant and bar with panoramic views of the beach and bay. Pets are allowed on the beach in designated areas only. The beaches just before the bridge or after the main entrance (past the bridge) are perfect for pets. .

Broadkill Beach – A small beach that sits on the Delaware Bay. It is very rustic, but quieter. Pets are permitted anytime and well-behaved ones may be off leash. This may have recently changed to dogs are not permitted May 1 to September 30.  We have not yet confirmed this.

Bethany Beach – A quaint beach town within a 25 minute drive South of the Homestead B&B. It has a charming boardwalk and is family friendly. During the off season things die down considerably. Dogs are permitted outside of the Summer May 15-September 30.
